An all-weather Multi-sport Complex in Central Oregon
Our Mission
The SportsPlex Alliance is a coalition of community members, businesses, sports teams and partners that are committed to bringing top-tier sports facilities to Central Oregon.
Why Central Oregon
SportsPlex Alliance?
-
Central Oregon has a very limited amount of all-weather sports/training facilities and because of this, our youth and adult programs as well as our leagues struggle for facility access every year. We see an inequitable allocation for facility access among some local departments. And while those programs grow; individuals, teams, leagues and clubs have to look elsewhere for access to facilities and training. We just don’t have enough facilities to support our ever growing sports community.
Clubs, leagues and training inevitably leave Central Oregon to compete in events in other parts of the State bringing positive economic impact to those communities and not our own.
-
Join together and be a part of this alliance that will drive our community and its leaders to plan, develop and build sports facilities to meet the needs of our region. The alliance will also coordinate communication between local parks departments, school districts and your local teams/clubs so all stakeholders can have a seat at the table when your respective towns plan new facilities or access to facilities.
The positive economic impact will be felt from every citizen and business regardless of if they play or use the facility. Our goal is to bring the entire Central Oregon sports community together.
-
Our top priorities include:
Develop a needs assessment and master plan with our steering committee. This includes development strategy of a multi-sport, multi-phase facility on public owned land. The facility would include multiple turf/multi-sport soccer, lacrosse, rugby, baseball and softball fields, indoor multi-use turf fields, indoor training, ice sports development areas and possibly commercial sports retail, hotel and RV park.
Partner with our business community and quantify economic impact and feasibility for the SportsPlex.
Partner with local, regional and national entities to create funding opportunities for the development and management of the SportsPlex.
Create and manage scholarship funds to make sure all Central Oregon youth have access to the best facilities, leagues and training in the region, leaving no child behind in sports.
-
We are concerned citizens, parents, business owners, professional athletes and everyday people from all over Central Oregon. Many of us have traveled to other areas and have seen the world class facilities that they have built.
Meanwhile in Central Oregon, our kids and adult leagues struggle for field or facility time every week. Also, we have seen the financial impact we have on other communities as we currently have to take our kids to other areas for sporting events and believe that Central Oregon could be greatly impacted in the same way if we had state of the art facilities for our kids.
These facilities are greatly needed in Central Oregon and with the success of Medford’s US Cellular Park (now called Lithia Driveway Fields) we can use their roadmap to follow and implement their successes in our community.
